Please follow along as we play Snakes and Ladders to help describe my 2015-2016 year!
- Ladder: ARJ 2014: Learning about racial justice moved me forward in life, giving me a different more positive insight on how to think about the world around me! I am grateful for the opportunity to go on an intensive week long journey with 25 others that I would like to call my friends!
- Snake: School, Work, Involvement: It was not easy balancing school, work, and organizations that I am involved in school. Working as a PCA at Good Samaritan Hospital was not bad over the summer, but adding two more important commitments into the mix, and I was swamped!
- Ladder: Panhellenic Recruitment: I had been through two other recruitments prior, but this recruitment was special as I worked alongside three other Panhellenic women to run the 2014 Panhellenic Recruitment that helped bring over 400 women into the UC Greek Community!
- Snake: Working during UC Homecoming: After being on Homecoming Court the year before, I could not believe that I was missing such a big UC event. Homecoming was also downtown at Paul Brown Stadium, but it was my weekend to work. Unfortunately, work was more of a priority and I had to miss my first UC Homecoming as a student.
- Ladder: 21 in Miami: What is better than turning 21 in college? That is right! Turning 21 in Miami, Florida is better, and to top it off, the Bearcats were playing Miami U in football. Although we did not win, it was great to be on the beach with my fellow Bearcats to get a little break from school!
- Ladder: 3 FYLP mentees: I was scared to get an FYLP mentee, because I felt as though I was an awful mentor two years prior. Instead of getting one, I got three great freshman to mentor. I enjoyed helping them learn about Student Government and involved at UC at the same time that they helped me learn more about myself as a leader.
- Ladder: LeaderShape: Going to LeaderShape as a fourth year may sound odd, but I enjoyed it! I was surrounded by many first years and a few upper class men, but I learned a lot from those who did not know me prior to the weekend.
- Snake: Campaign Week: Physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion! It was hard to put myself out there for students, but it was even harder to find time to reflect on the experience when I was always "on". Although I would not give up the experience, I have more reflection to do in order to get the most out of the hardship.
- Snake: Graduating Pi Beta Phi: I had spent four amazing years with a group of influential women. How could I just walk away? It was, however, time to graduate from my sorority, and although it was hard, I know that being an alumni does not stop the lifelong friendships that I built in the Pi Phi House.
- Snake: Not graduating: I am a fourth year. I should be graduating, right? Maybe if I kept my major that would be the case, but it was not. It was hard to see my classmates graduate, while I felt like a failure. I know, however, that switching my major was the best decision, and that I will be a great nurse one day!
