Honors Course: The achievement Gap
I initially took this class with great interest in the achievement gap. I was conducting a presentation for the Darwin T. Turner Scholarship Program about education reform and realized that the topic was very new to me. I have taken many science classes in high school and college, but I can honestly say that I am naive in the realms of US policies let alone US education policies. The achievement gap opened my eyes to many different types of school systems ranging from small, rural schooling (similar to my high school in Marion, Ohio) to private, Montessori schooling (similar to Cincinnati schools). Once I took this course, I was not only more educated on the topic, but I myself found a great passion for justice and public policies. Attached is a presentation of my Turner group. My knowledge and growth on the topic is very apparent in this work. Enjoy!
